Greener — no extra vehicles on the road; less freight, less CO₂. More flexible — city-to-city, cross-border and diaspora deliveries on a single platform.

How do I send something?

Create an account, open “Send something”, and provide the item details, pickup and drop-off addresses, your deadline and the reward you’re willing to pay. Once a verified carrier accepts, you coordinate the pickup via in-app chat using a unique handover code.

How do I price a task?

You set the reward when you send something. The platform shows indicative prices based on distance, urgency and item type. Higher rewards typically attract carriers more quickly, especially on rare or urgent routes.

Yes. Each task carries a full audit trail: pickup photos, delivery photos, timestamped chat messages, and the pickup and delivery handover codes. You can see status updates inside the task screen at any time.

Yes. Cross-border deliveries are a core PassPost use case, particularly within Europe and along diaspora corridors. You remain responsible for ensuring that the item is legal to export from the origin country and legal to import in the destination, including any duties, taxes or licences that may apply. What happens if no carrier accepts my task?

If no carrier accepts before your deadline, you can increase the reward, extend the deadline, or cancel the task. Nothing is charged until a carrier accepts and pickup is confirmed.

Who can become a carrier?

To become a verified carrier you must: Be at least 18 years of age. Hold a valid government-issued photo ID. Have an active, verifiable phone number. Have the legal right to work and travel in the relevant jurisdictions. Comply with all applicable laws governing the transportation of goods. Not be subject to any legal prohibition on carrying goods across the relevant borders.

What is the verification process?

Before claiming any task, every carrier completes a three-step verification: ID verification (a valid government-issued photo ID is submitted and approved), phone verification (confirmed via SMS code), and route verification (your intended travel route is confirmed). PassPost may also request re-verification at any time if your personal details or route materially change.

Am I an employee of PassPost?

No. Carriers are independent contractors. You decide when, where and how often you accept tasks. You are responsible for reporting and remitting any taxes due on your earnings, including income tax and VAT where applicable.

How and when do I get paid?

Compensation is shown in NOK before you claim a task. Once the recipient confirms delivery with the handover code, the reward is released from escrow within 24 hours. PassPost deducts its service fee before releasing the net amount to you.

What if I need to cancel a task I’ve claimed?

Once claimed, cancellation is strongly discouraged because the sender is relying on you. Repeated cancellations can reduce your task visibility, hurt your rating and ultimately lead to account suspension. If a genuine emergency arises, notify PassPost promptly through the in-app chat.

Does PassPost provide insurance for carriers?

PassPost does not provide insurance for carriers or for items in transit. Carriers are strongly encouraged to take out their own courier or transit insurance, especially when carrying higher-value items.

How much does it cost to send something?

Senders set the reward they are willing to pay; PassPost shows indicative pricing based on the route, distance and urgency. The platform fee is deducted from the carrier’s payout, not added on top of the sender’s reward, so the total you commit to is transparent at the time of posting.

What is escrow and why does PassPost use it?

Escrow means your payment is held securely by PassPost from the moment a carrier accepts your task until the recipient confirms delivery. Funds are released to the carrier only after successful confirmation by the handover code. This protects senders against non-delivery and carriers against non-payment.

In what currency are tasks priced?

Tasks are denominated in Norwegian kroner (NOK). Local currency conversion may apply at the payment stage depending on your country and payment provider.

Each task generates two short codes: one for pickup and one for delivery. The pickup code is shared between the sender and carrier at hand-over; the delivery code is shared between the recipient and carrier at drop-off. The delivery code is the sole trigger for releasing escrow.

How should I package an item for a PassPost carrier?

Package items as you would for any courier: protect fragile contents, seal documents in envelopes, and provide a brief inventory in the task description. The carrier will photograph the item at pickup, so good packaging also protects you in the event of a dispute.

Carriers must refuse to carry any item they know or suspect to be prohibited under the PassPost Terms of Service, including: Illegal substances, including controlled drugs. Weapons, ammunition and parts thereof. Hazardous materials (flammable, explosive, corrosive, radioactive). Sanctioned goods or goods restricted under export-control regimes. Cash, bearer instruments and counterfeit goods. Live animals, perishable goods and human remains. Carrying prohibited items may result in criminal liability and immediate, permanent suspension from the platform.

Carriers must not open, inspect or tamper with sealed packages beyond the standard condition documentation needed for the photo trail. For sealed legal documents this is particularly important.

The sender is responsible for declaring the contents and value of the item accurately, and the recipient is generally responsible for any import duties or taxes due in the destination country. Carriers must comply with customs requirements and must notify PassPost immediately if they are stopped or detained by authorities in connection with a task.

A clear, truthful description of the item. Declared value in NOK. Whether the item is new or used, and whether it has commercial value. Any documents the carrier should expect at the border (e.g. receipts, certificates).

File a dispute inside the app within 48 hours of the scheduled or actual delivery time. Open the relevant task, tap “Report an Issue”, select the dispute category, describe the issue and upload supporting evidence. You will receive a confirmation reference number.

How long does a dispute take?

PassPost acknowledges your dispute within 4 business hours and assigns it to a moderator. A determination is typically issued within 5 business days, or up to 10 business days for complex cross-border or high-value cases. Both parties are notified of the outcome at the same time.

What outcomes are possible?

Full refund to sender — where non-delivery or carrier fault is established. Full payout to carrier — where delivery is confirmed. Partial refund — where partial fault or damage is established. No action — where insufficient evidence exists. Account action — suspension or removal of a user found to have acted dishonestly.

Is there a cap on PassPost’s liability?

PassPost’s maximum liability is limited to the declared item value, up to NOK 5,000 per task, except where a higher level of liability is required by applicable consumer protection law. Senders carrying higher-value goods should consider their own transit insurance.

Can I appeal a decision?

Yes. Either party can appeal within 7 days by emailing legal@passpost.io with the subject line “Dispute Appeal – [Reference Number]”, attaching any new evidence. One appeal is permitted per dispute, and the appeal decision is final and is communicated within 7 business days.

What happens to the escrow while a dispute is open?

Once a dispute is filed, the escrow funds are immediately frozen and are not released to either party until the dispute is resolved. After a final determination, funds are released within 2 business days.
